Learning support strategy

Our specialized learning support teacher is an integral part of our teaching team, working closely with class teachers to guide them in identifying potential additional learning needs in children. While potential learning difficulties can sometimes be observed as early as reception, our focus is on providing teachers with the tools and expertise to recognize and address individual needs as they emerge.

Through collaborative discussions with class teachers and parents, we develop learning support strategies, ensuring each child receives the assistance they need to thrive. These strategies are designed to build on each child's strengths and address specific challenges, making the childs' time at Woods a positive and successful learning experience.

Early intervention

Early years learning challenges can manifest in various ways, from difficulties with language development and social interaction to struggles with fine motor skills or attention. At Woods, we provide support to address these challenges, focusing on early intervention and personalized strategies. This may include one-on-one support, small group activities, or modifications to the learning environment.

Our campus features a dedicated learning support room, providing a safe and private space for children to receive individualized attention and support. Here, our internal team, as well as external consultants such as occupational therapists and speech therapists, work closely with children to address their specific needs.

We work with families to create a consistent and supportive approach, ensuring children receive the tools they need to build confidence and thrive in their early learning journey.

Special needs

At Woods, we embrace the diversity of all learners, including those with more specialised needs, which may range from dyslexia and dyspraxia to potential neurodivergence.

We understand that each child's needs are unique, and we are committed to providing a supportive environment. When a child presents with potential special needs, we work with parents and our team to assess individual requirements. Together, we explore the options for full integration, determining whether dedicated learning support, occupational therapy, speech therapy, or other specialized interventions are necessary to ensure the child can participate and thrive in our learning community.
