Our Classes
Woods offers a nurturing and inclusive community for young learners, initially focusing on children from 1 to 7 years old. We will offer six year groups, structured by developmental stages according to the British Curriculum

Seedlings (Infants)
The Seedlings program (1-2 years) at Woods focuses on creating a stimulating and supportive environment for our youngest learners. We prioritize social and emotional development, encouraging children to play cooperatively, and build positive relationships.
Language development is nurtured through songs, rhymes, stories, and interactions with our teaching team. A key element of our infant program is outdoor play, providing opportunities for sensory exploration and physical development in our natural play areas.

We understand the close bond that often exists between babies and their nannies, and to help children settle in and become familiar with their new environment and teachers, nannies or caregivers are welcome to stay for the first month. After this initial period, we encourage children to attend school independently, allowing them to 'spread their wings' in our supportive setting.
Nursery 1 & Nursery 2
(often called FS1 & FS2 or Pre-Nursery & Nursery)
At Woods, learning is an adventure. Our vibrant learning environment comes alive through theme-based creative activities, thoughtfully prepared for both indoor and outdoor exploration. These activities focus on building key early years skills, including pre-mathematical understanding, pre-writing abilities, pre-reading comprehension, and pre-phonics listening skills. We celebrate each child's individual learning journey, offering differentiated experiences that allow them to thrive at their own pace. Fun, playful learning experiences are at the heart of our approach, ensuring that learning is practical, engaging, and joyful. Daily carpet time provides a structured introduction to early phonics and numeracy, while singing and story time nurture a love of language. Activities are also provided to enhance fine motor skills, supporting children's physical development.

Reception
Reception (4-5 years) at Woods is a year of exciting exploration within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. Through play-based learning and hands-on activities, children delve into a variety of topics, including "All About Me," "Minibeasts," "Under the Sea," and "Let's Explore Space." Our learning environments are carefully curated to reflect their increasing abilities and foster a sense of wonder. Children solidify their knowledge of letter recognition and formation, and build a solid foundation in number values up to 20.
Year 1 & 2
Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) at Woods provides a seamless transition from the Early Years Foundation Stage to the more structured learning of the British National Curriculum. Children explore a variety of engaging topics, and learning is designed to be creative and enjoyable, supporting the development of key skills in literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking. Monthly year group assemblies provide an opportunity for children to present their learning and showcase their growing confidence in public speaking, through poetry, song, drama, and presentations.

While each class has a maximum capacity of 20 children, we aim for smaller groups of 15-18 students.
Woods School operates within an international environment, and we understand that different national school systems have varying academic schedules and year group designations. At Woods, we follow the British curriculum, which categorizes children into classes according to their age at the start of the school year (September).
